The PETROF Acoustic Sessions project involves unconventional, acoustic renditions of well-known songs by popular artists. Each artist had the opportunity to perform their songs accompanied by piano in the industrial setting of the PETROF Gallery in Hradec Králové. Bands like Chinaski and Poetika, actor and musician Štěpán Kozub, Michal Hrůza, trumpeter Laco Déczi, and many others recorded with us. Each Acoustic Session consists of live performances and an interview with the artist.
Chinaski
Listen to songs by the band CHINASKI in a unique acoustic performance from the PETROF Gallery in Hradec. The band’s frontman Michal Malátný and pianist Jan Steinsdörfer accepted the invitation to the PETROF Acoustic Sessions, and you can look forward to three songs in total, as well as an interview.
Michal Hrůza
In the next episode of PETROF Acoustic Sessions, Michal Hrůza, the author of many famous hits and frontman of Kapela Hrůzy, performed. He was accompanied on piano by the band’s pianist Karel Heřman, and once again we can enjoy two songs in an acoustic rendition. One of them is Bílá Velryba, from the album of the same name, which was released in 2007. Michal Hrůza is also known as a founding member and former frontman of the band Ready Kirken, and he is the author of the theme song for the cult TV series Vyprávěj. As usual, an interview will also be part of the session.
Poetika
The band Poetika first made a name for themselves in 2016 with their debut single Zkouším žít. That same year, Poetika was nominated for Discovery of the Year in the Český slavík poll. In the PETROF Gallery, the band performed acoustic versions of their hits Padám and Cíl.
ŠTĚPÁN KOZUB & JIŘÍ KRHUT
The album Prásknu bičem by Štěpán Kozub and Jiří Krhut quickly gained many listeners after its release. As part of the PETROF Acoustic Sessions, they performed alongside singer Barbara Kanyzová with the songs Poraď mi s tím and Dám Ti napít. The recording also included a video interview, where we learned, for example, how the album was created and which songs are favorites of our guests from Ostrava.
Laco Deczi
In another episode of PETROF Acoustic Sessions, jazz legend Laco Deczi performed alongside the excellent pianist Jan Uvira. Two pieces were created, along with an interesting interview, which you can listen to on our channel. The trumpet that Laco Deczi plays once belonged to jazz musician Clifford Brown, whom Laco considers one of the greatest jazzmen of all time and a major inspiration.
Kateřina Marie Tichá
With the songs Vítr and V Paříži, Kateřina Marie Tichá, this year’s Anděl Award winner for Discovery of the Year, performed in another episode of PETROF Acoustic Sessions. This time, the piano strings were played by Pavel Sotoniak, also a member of the group Bandjeez. As usual, an interview was also part of the Acoustic Sessions.
Michal Horák
The singer-songwriter from Hradec, Michal Horák, performed his songs Je to tak and Rande live as part of the PETROF Acoustic Sessions.
Dáša Zázvůrková
With a musical tribute to the 90th birthday of the late renowned Czechoslovak chanson singer Hana Hegerová, actress and singer Dáša Zázvůrková performed in another episode of PETROF Acoustic Sessions. The piano accompaniment was provided by arranger and pianist Vladimír Strnad. You can look forward to a total of three songs in acoustic form, as well as an interview.
