How to choose the right place for a piano in your apartment?

The right place to set your instrument is a spot without irregular temperature changes. That is why you should avoid placing the piano near open windows, heat sources, and inner, cold walls.
We also recommend that you do not expose the piano to direct sunlight, which may damage the finish and change the color of the instrument.
Do not place objects on the instrument. It could cause unwanted noises, like rattling or vibrations, during a performance.
It is crucial to avoid contact with any liquid, which could seriously harm the piano.

HUMIDITY

A piano is an instrument made mostly from wood. Therefore, it is sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity of its surroundings. Significant changes harm the action function, the overall instrument stability, tuning, and voicing included. The humidity should never be below 30 % and higher than 65 %. To achieve the right amount of humidity in extreme environments, use an air humidifier (Dampp-Chaser Humidity Control System available at PETROF spol. s r.o.).

TEMPERATURE

The temperature of the environment must never fall below 5 ° C for a short time, or below 10 ° C for a long time. The paint, exposed to lower temperatures, might crack. After placing the instrument in a permanent position, allow it to acclimatize for several days so that its humidity and temperature adapt. Additionally, it is good to check the conditions using a hygrometer and a thermometer located near the instrument.
