On Wednesday, 19 November 2025, a new permanent exhibition, PETROF Museum, opened at the Hradec Králové Information Centre. It presents more than 160 years of PETROF brand history and offers a unique connection between traditional craftsmanship and modern technologies.
In the very heart of Hradec Králové, a new space has been created to guide visitors through the story of the PETROF brand – from the oldest preserved piano dating back to 1865 to current technological innovations. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to look into the world of piano design, the history of piano making, and the PETROF company itself.
The exhibition also includes the futuristic upright piano Magic Egg by Robert Fišera and a 1929 pianola – a technological marvel of its time. Visitors can also see an upright piano without a cabinet, revealing the entire key action mechanism, as well as a number of period materials and archival artefacts. The exhibition is supplemented by an audio guide voiced by actor Jan Bílek. Visitors can choose from four language versions (Czech, English, German, Polish).
Interactive artistic experience
A unique feature of the new exhibition is interactive software that connects music with visual art. Visitors can play the piano and watch how their musical improvisation is transformed in real time into a visual artwork projected on a large screen. The finished image can be sent by e-mail as a personal keepsake.
