Advantages of the construction and materials used in PETROF 210 Pasat

Rim

  • PETROF original.
  • The inner rim is laminated with 13 ply’s of solid beech and   birch lamels
  • The rim is CNC machined for high accuracy.
  • The outer rim is laminated from birch plywood sheets.
  • The inside facing is veneered horizontally with Ebony Makassar.
  • The total rim thickness is 8.4 cm.
A very strong rim ensures   long term tuning stability and regulation stability.   A strong CNC machined rim supports the proper crown of the sound board, which produces the precious Petrof tone. Rare Ebony wood on the inner face of the rim give the   noble appearance that is deserving of a Petrof grand piano.

Rim posts

  • The Petrof frame consists of 4 longitudinal spruce posts, 1 descant post made from compressed beech wood and 1 cross spruce post.
  • The joints of the posts and rim are dove tailed (fish tailed) and doweled with beech hardwood dowels.
  • The cross block of wooden frame is reinforced by profiled steel rail.
  • Dřevěná kostra je CNC opracována.
A total of 6 frame posts and a reinforcing of cross block by steel rail ensure its extraordinary form stability. The last descant post conduces to bright tone of high frequencies. CNC working ensures prfect accuracy, which conduces to exact tone of this instrument.

Legs

  • Petrof original.
  • Solid beech core, solid alder outer layer, Gabon counter veneer, and a decorative veneer.
Strong leg construction ensures high piano stability when being played dynamically.

Iron plate

  • Made in Czech Republic.
  • Made from grey cast iron, wet sand casted, hand finished; CNC machined for an accurate fit.
  • New dynamic gold color finish.
CNC machining ensures high accuracy of string scaling and accurate fit to each piano. Bright colour enhances the beauty and noble look of the PETROF grand piano.

Iron plate support

  • An adjustable steel bolt between iron plate and cross block of wooden frame.
Support of iron plate increases the stability of its form, resulting in better tuning stability.

Hardware fittings

  • PETROF original.
  • Solid polished brass, lacquered, stain resistant.
All the hardware fittings are maintenance-free.

Pinblock

  • Special compressed beech plywood Multiplex type, density 800 – 850 kg/m3, laminated using very strong moisture resistant glue.
The pin block is highly resistant to climatic changes, providing stable torque of tuning pins and high tuning stability.

Sound board

  • Petrof original design.
  • Made from fine European mountain spruce.
  • Asymmetric crown and diaphragmatic tapering of the soundboard gives the piano greater acoustic output in the whole tonal range. I
The soundboard gets special longterm moistrure conditioning and care during the whole production process.

Ribs

  • Petrof original.
  • Made from fine European spruce.
  • Individually asymmetrically shaped, the tips are hand fitted to ensure a proper fit.
  • The corner cross rib is laminated from beech lamellas and CNC machined to arc shape.
A new and original asymmetric crown and asymmetric tapering of the sound board and its ribs create optimal conditions for sound board resonation. This fact contributes to generating the typical tone of this grand piano..

Bridges

  • Petrof original.
  • Treble – solid beech, maple cap, genuine ebony descant cap.
  • Bass – solid beech, maple cap, lightened by holes.
  • Bridges graphite coated, hand bored.
The genuine ebony wood used in the treble bridge cup minimalizes dumping of the highest tones. The maple and ebony cap enables better transmission of the treble tones onto the sound board. Pasat´s ebony bridge cup creates significantly bright and long sound of the high tones.

Scale

  • Agraffes, front and rear pre-tuned duplexes.
  • Single string hitching in the whole range.
Duplexes enrich the tone colour of the grand piano Pasat. Single hitch pinning increases tuning stability.

Tuning pins

  • Nickel plated steel, stein resistant.
The tuning pins are of the best quality and they are corrosion resistant.

Strings

  • Steel wire Röslau, Germany, or Mapes, USA.
  • Copper wire for winding by Degen, Germany.
  • The longest bass string is 1493 mm.
Strings are made from special string wire of top world quality.

Hammers

  • Renner hammers made in Germany.
  • Walnut or hornbeam moldings, premium felt, hornbeam hammer shanks.
Renner hammers are one from the worlds best, made from very special hammer felt. These hammers enable Petrof to obtain a wide scale of tonal color and power.

Dampers

  • Renner, Germany.
In this grand piano dampers are used which are produced by Renner in Germany. These dampers are considered to be the best in the world.

Action

  • PETROF original.
  • Aluminium wippen rail.
  • Aluminium hammer rail.
  • The action parts and hammer shanks are made from hard hornbeam wood.
The PETROF action is quick, with good repetition, it enables the grand piano Pasat to be played confidently, even technically demanding passages, and to have full control of creating tones. Specifically profiled aluminium action rails are very stable also in changing humidity.

Keyboard

  • PETROF original.
  • Made from solid European spruce.
  • Key tops - acrylic Polyplex from Sweden.
  • Each key is individually balanced.
Petrof keyboards belong among the top quality keyboards in the world. Ebony wood provides pleasant feeling when playing.

Key bed

  • Petrof construction - spruce wood sandwich,  beech veneerd.
  • Beech hardwood insert is inset in the spruce core in legs and lyre area.
  • The key bed thickness is 47 mm.
  • The key bed is additionally reinforced by a strong solid wood rail on the bottom of the key bed.
  • Key bed is CNC machined for a perfect fit and high accuracy.
Robust key bed ensures high stability both in play and regulation, it provides a feeling of reliance allowing the pianists to perform to their full potential.

Pedals

  • Three fully functional pedals made of solid polished brass.
  • The middle pedal has prolongement function.

Construction, materials and function of the pedal system are fully comparable with that of other high-end grand pianos.
