Count Basie

William "Count" Basie was an American jazz pianist, organist, bandleader, and composer and one of the most important jazz bandleaders of his time, was a leading figure of the swing era in jazz and, alongside Duke Ellington, an outstanding representative of big band style. His career as a musician started in the Palace theatre – he quickly learned to play the piano, but he preferred drums.
