MUSIC CELEBRATIONS LONDON
Caroline Haffner'
s piano recital in London last night marked a musical finish and a musical start. The Parisian pianist brought to an end the international celebrations for the "Year of Glenn Gould" organized by the legendary musician's foundation in Canada. The start is to the new programmes of music bringing established maestros with young, professionals starting out in their careers.
Caroline played
Bach's First Partita and music by
Chopin at the
Royal Society of Arts to an invited audience which included Costa Pilavachi and Rosalind Ingrams, widow of the founder of Garsington Opera, Leonard Ingrams.
In the middle of a busy schedule of recitals which takes her to
Naples next week then on to
Athens before leaving for
China at the end of October, Caroline announced her programme for the
New Year Music Festival in Gstaad, Switzerland (28.12.08 to 05.01.09). A loyal visitor to Gstaad Caroline returns among friends to the Swiss mountain village whose churches provide such an elegant location for world class, innovative and engaging classic music with a humanitarian touch.
Brian Levine of the Glenn Gould Foundation thanked Caroline and her
Association for the Promotion of Classical Music (APMC) which has done so much to promote the Foundation's celebrations this year and is going forward with new engagements for the future. Further events and festivals in London from next year will be announced shortly - some in collaboration with
Piano Petrof for whom Caroline Haffner is Artiste Emeritus.
